- Our annual prize winners' trip to Washington, DC is quite an undertaking for a small organization like ours-22 round trip tickets from places all over the US, plus two round trip tickets for our international winner and parent, who've come, in past years, from places as farflung as Shanghai and Dhaka. Our staff also attends four or five important educational conferences each year, another big airfare expense. Donating frequent flyer miles to River of Words represents an enormous savings for us. If you have them to spare, we can put them to good use.
