Flags

Flags dot the houses
I stroll past.
Even ours is up,
a fluttering red, white and blue
against the cream-colored house.

I glance up, and for a moment I see
a patch of maple leaves
against the blue sky
with wisps of clouds.
Red, white, and blue.
