This is How Nature Works

First she boils
her primordial broth
eager to please
her fickle husband
Fate
who sips

“Too plain.”

So she grows
garden-variety veggies
seeking to satisfy
her fickle husband
Fate
who spoons

“ Not hearty enough.”

Then she cuts
the choicest meats
focused on filling
her fickle husband
who spears

“Needs flavor.”

Now she reaps the rankest of
weeds
aiming to avenge
the abuses of
her fickle husband
Fate
who spits

“Too saucy.”

And empties the pot.
