Skipping Stones

We skipped stones at the river once,
Your stone hopped eight times.
Mine plopped once.
I had told you then, I cannot skip rocks on rivers.
But let me try
on rugged purple mountains,
thunderclouds and rainbows,
crocodiles, dreams, and time….
How? You asked.
Just choose the right stone,
Round as a crayon and smooth as the sky.
