Finalist Wolf Reserve
Rock-ribbed mountains Dotted with evergreens Surround me. Bright, blinking down stars And the crescent moon Casts a dim light On the snowcapped mountains When I need an escape From my petty worries From frustrating family And friends Hurry back To nature To freedom. The sting of winter cold So cold it’s hot A pack streaking by Darting between gnarled trees A raven calls to them Diving, soaring in the evening air.
