Finalist Ode to Blue Calcite
Born in Mexico, emigrated Thrust into unfamiliar hands Jagged edges, weathered But unequaled in brilliance Shades of blue, clear Like the eyes of a wise man Many faces on one, facades Hiding its true nature Frozen inside, iceberg Cold to the touch Isolated from the world, lonely Dark blue surrounded by unyielding ice Encased in white, untouchable Wanting to escape Icy temper, emotionless Like the grim rain Male, estranged son Flooding of memories Winter brewing, December Sky before a storm
