Bayou II

Below me, a rickety wooden row boat,
spacespacespdamp in the fog,
rests embedded in a world
beneath the muddy swampland waters.
Egrets paint the landscape,

gliding with ease to the nearest branches.
Crawfish wriggle
to escape a tattered prison of trellised thread.
The moist air swirls with silence
magnifying the softest sounds of life,
faintly whispering the songs of
home home home.
