New Beginnings

Jazz is like me
00000skipping rocks through
00000the sea,
floating to the moon,
00000dreaming of being alone
00000in the dark
with only starlight
00000to guide me.

I am wishing for someone
00000new to show me the way of hope, the way
of happiness.
I am sitting watching
00000the sunlight like a bird

watches her eggs, like a museum
00000watches its diamonds,
like the ocean skipping rocks

back to me, but only I can see the joy
00000of the sea’s waves moving through the music,
00the violin moving to a new beat.
